Job Description

Position Summary:

The Lead Accountant in Internal Financial Reporting within the Accounting Department will assist in the consolidation of RC’Ls monthly operational results within the first week of each month. This person will be responsible for supervision of two or more senior accountants. This person will be expected to understand investment and inter-company transactions and their impact to the financials. This position requires extensive interaction with Treasury, Tax, Corporate Planning and foreign subsidiaries.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews/approves monthly journal entries (i.e., foreign subsidiary consolidation, equity pick-up, etc.).
  • Reviews/approves account reconciliations (including investments, intercompany and equity accounts) and miscellaneous schedules prepared by senior accountants monthly and discusses account reconciliation issues with Manager.
  • Reviews and assists in the compilation of Balance Sheet results in preparation of quarterly meetings with senior management.
  • Applies accounting concepts and policies in the preparation and review of financial transactions which may include but are not limited to foreign subsidiary consolidation, inter-company transactions, high volume complex accruals and prepaid expenses across a large number of accounts.
  • Ability to read contracts/agreements and identify pertinent terms and issues to provide appropriate accounting guidance to business managers.
  • Assists in the review of entity-wide inter-company arrangements to provide the appropriate accounting treatment to senior management of Tax and Treasury departments.
  • Requires knowledge of ASC 830 (Foreign Currency Matters) in order to compile monthly foreign exchange schedules provided to upper management and provide assistance / guidance to accounting groups regarding treatment of foreign currency transactions.
  • Assists management in the analysis and review of Actual vs. Forecast explanations submitted by the operating groups.
  • Ability to interact effectively with executives, functional peer groups and subordinates and to gain cooperation from others.
  • Works directly with upper management on ad hoc projects as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor Degree in Accounting.
  • Requires four or more years' experience in accounting (two years in public accounting plus two years in private accounting in a similar role).
  • Requires a CPA.
  • Significant hands-on experience consolidating financial statements of multi-functional currency subsidiaries.
  • Significant experience in applying ASC 830 Foreign Currency Translation.
  • Strong capability in JD Edwards (or similar) systems, Essbase, Microsoft office tools.
  • Requires strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must work effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage staff to complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under significant deadline pressure.
