Position Summary

Provides assistance to Project Development Managers (PDMs) with the technical support, engineering expertise, coordination and management to the new buildings department covering of revitalization projects undertaken by the department. The incumbent’s primary focus, working closely with the Project Development Managers, is the set-up of work package list, set up and attend meeting on PDMs behalf, as requested, prepare pre and post ship visit agenda’s and presentations, follow up on tracking of APP, communicate with architects, ensure drawings are updated, both in BOX and technical drive, write SOVs and work packages.

Incumbent will assist in the management, tracking and upholding of processes and timelines for all assigned Fleet Modernization projects. Incumbent will assist with bid documentation preparation for the scope of works, including schedules of values and budget definition, in conjunction with the design department and other functionaries within the project group. They will take part in vendor negotiations, vendor selection and assist in the management of communications and correspondence between the relevant parties, both internally and externally. They will also be responsible for compliance of all rules and regulations as applicable. The position reports to the Sr. Manager of Newbuild development fleet design.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of various projects and coordinates the technical and administrative aspects with the senior superintendents and/or consultants in his group relevant to the project requirements.
  • Use processes, technical abilities and people skills to assist PDM to motivate, encourage and advise group members to achieve optimum results.
  • Lead the research and analysis of data, drawings and other reference documents required for the creation of budget matrix for review and approval by Development Director and Finance Manager.
  • Work with Product Development, Design, Finance, Planner to ensure project timelines are defined based on required project deliverables and dry dock start date and location.
  • Assist PDM with follow up of APP project planner, ensuring tracking is occurring as scheduled to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Manage and coordination of timely return of drawings from contractors for approval and the coordination with all members in the matrix management.
  • Ensure that all outfit equipment ordered for installation is appropriate, cost effective and in accordance with applicable industry codes.
  • Stay current on relevant technical research and projects; seek information and evaluate new technology for use on board, and run test programs on such equipment together with manufacturing company and RCCL teams.
  • Manage and coordinate at a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies in relation to outfit areas.
  • Analyze the management of document methods in order to improve workflow, simplifying reporting procedures, or implement cost reductions.
  • Build composite reports from individual reports of team members.
  • Prepares management presentations and collects data to do so.
  • Travel, as and when required, to support project development, vendor visits to vessels and site teams at locations shortly before and during projects, as required.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required in architectural and/or naval architecture degrees preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 4+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Requires strong teamwork, cooperation, and collaborative skills to develop rapport within the department, with other departments, and externally.
  • Be a self-motivated individual, with ability to mobilize people and resources to action, within a high-paced environment
  • Good ability to proactively identify problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Possesses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work under tight schedules and to endure challenging situations in high stress situations.
  • Working knowledge of computer software for communication and presentations.
  • Must be familiar with the working drawing process inclusive of drawing, dimensioning and detailing floor plans, elevations, sections and details.
  • Ability to understand and interpret architectural plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Strong interpersonal skills absolutely required, as well as the ability to be a strong team player.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD system.
  • Must be proactive, organized and have the ability to take initiative, be multi-faceted. Will be required to use and develop project specific software for project development, management and tracking.
  • Ability to read and write fluent English is required. Ability to speak other languages a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
