Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for audit and tracing of compensation actions, as well as correction to pay rates and working with HRBP¿s to correct HR records. Partners with the Fleet HR Managers and Crew Payroll Managers. This person supports the implementation and maintenance of compensation programs, policies, and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify trends through analysis, and provides recommendations to improve efficiencies based on findings.

Review, audits and corrects position changes, salary adjustment and contracts.  Ensures proper approvals are in place by working with HRBPs and Operations.

Supports the annual salary increase cycle by generating compensation planning spreadsheets, partnering with the HRBPs and the business to validate employee eligibility, and updating job and employee records as required.

Researches crew history and supplemental data to resolve Sign on employment agreement (SOEAs) discrepancies and respond to vessel inquiries on wages, overtime and other compensation elements.

Ensures wage grids for both CBA and non-CBA positions are adhered to; monitor and correct any discrepancies between grids and JD Edwards.

Provides input for the development and implementation of system changes and policy revisions.

Administer compensation system applications as required.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college is preferred, and /or at least 3 years of equivalent experience within a Human Resource Department is required.  Compensation experience preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Must have strong mathematical and analytical skills, including knowledge of statistics and a high attention to detail, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 

Knowledge of HR and compensation/benefits functions, processes, and data management required.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to write effectively and present information to management.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
