Position Summary:

The Lead, Learning and Development Delivery individual is a key member of the Learning and Development (L+D) team, located at Royal Caribbean’s Miami headquarters office. This role sits within an internal team serving as learning delivery experts in the Human Resources – Learning Center of Excellence (COE). Individuals in the department have deep expertise through formal education and practical experience implementing and facilitating learning programs through a variety of delivery methods (e.g., instructor-led training, virtual training, eLearning).

The Lead, Learning and Development Delivery influences the development of employees through the application of professional learning and development initiatives. He/she will support the organization’s growing demand for and commitment to supporting the development of our employees, ultimately driving individual and team effectiveness. This individual will implement and deliver training that facilitates behavior change, transfers critical knowledge, and develops technical and strategic skills in our employees. He/she will also assist department leaders in evaluating the effectiveness of intra-departmental training programs.

In this role, the incumbent collaborates closely with HR partners, business clients and project team members to ensure alignment and integration of strategies, projects and programs for successful implementation. 

While this role is primarily USA based, there may be a requirement for overseas or shipboard travel to train in other key locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate dynamic and impactful in-person and virtual training workshops covering a variety of topics to include New Hire Onboarding, Design Thinking, project management, presentation skills, Behavior Based Interviewing, leadership sessions and other content as required
  • Provide ongoing program management of various learning solutions such as LinkedIn Learning
  • Measure the effectiveness of various learning solutions (including instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led sessions, eLearning and blended programs) through a variety of metrics including participant feedback
  • Maintain up-to-date reporting on training progress and effectiveness and present to key stakeholders
  • Proactively make recommendations and partner with key stakeholders, including our instructional design team and/or external vendors, to adjust training products and programs (such as instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led sessions, eLearning, video, job aids and print manuals) based on data and feedback analysis
  • Consider both business needs and learning trends to make recommendations on additional course offerings and to actively provide input on workshops under development
  • Plan and execute the implementation of new learning programs to ensure all stakeholders are informed and to drive employee awareness. Develop creative means to drive ongoing utilization and/or participation.
  • Serve as an internal consultant and partner to Shoreside leaders to enable them to maximize the impact and effectiveness of their intra-departmental training initiatives
  • Develop and deliver customized team interventions to drive team effectiveness, using psychometric tools when appropriate
  • Collaborate with L+D colleagues to design conference workshops and experiential learning activities
  • Partner with other members of the Learning and Development team to develop a master training plan for the enterprise

 

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Training and Development, Communications, Human Resources or related field required

  • 5+ years of corporate training facilitation experience required

Preferred Experience: 

  • Facilitation via virtual platforms strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working in a multi-brand, global industry with a diverse workforce
  • Demonstrated success working in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated success in working with and influencing cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects on time and on budget
  • History of consistently delivering positive business results
  • History of developing others and self in the learning / training discipline
  • History of external involvement in professional associations and learning-related organizations

Knowledge and Skills:

Outstanding platform delivery skills and natural ability to bring energy, engagement and excitement to training workshops both in person and virtually

  • Quick learner with ability to deliver content that is in “pilot mode”, facilitate new content with confidence, provide input into content iteration and support in the formalizing of processes as we build out our curriculum
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and demonstrated ability to implement these principles into training programs
  • High degree of technical proficiency and ongoing personal development with software programs necessary for the position: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of multiple learning technologies preferred, including video conferencing, virtual platforms etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of management with credibility
  • Ability to be detailed oriented, while maintaining alignment with broader organization objectives
  • Ability to gather data, visualize and summarize trends and make recommendations based on findings
  • Comfort with complexity, ambiguity, and change
  • Self-starter with self-confidence, enthusiasm, and strong customer service orientation
  • Manages time well, correctly prioritizes tasks, and is flexible

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for long periods of time using a computer
  • Standing for extended periods of time while facilitating 
  • May be occasionally required to visit ships while in port to conduct business and will ascend and descend the vessel in both public and crew areas.
  • This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally to land based offices and/or to join a ship to conduct business (~ 15%). 

Work Environment:

  • The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices including possible international travel and work onboard our ships. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
