Job Description

Position Summary:

The Product Engineering Lead is the most senior technical leader within an agile product team. This person will be responsible for the complete technical delivery of software solutions which align with the technology vision and strategy set by Senior Technical Architects.

This person will be accountable for the quality of the full application stack of the team.  The lead will also ensure the development teams are executing according the scope, requirements and technical standards set for the organization.  This position requires the ability to think architecturally about solutions, while getting hands on with the coding, testing and release pipelines of the broader team.

The lead will also be expected to understand the challenges and risks of implementation options, resolve gaps, collaborate across disciplines (both external and internal teams) and maintain stable and scalable development solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Review all functional and non-functional requirements / stories to identify gaps
- Document high-level design of a given solution across the entire technology stack
- Identify platforms involved, solution alternatives, risks and dependencies on IT and other external parties
- Design solution approaches, document risks and review with the architecture / platform team for approval
- Identify required technical skill set, tools and expertise to complete the initiative
- Provision and communicate code branching model for developers
- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical members of the organization to facilitate discussions

- Attend all agile ceremonies and provide guidance on work sequencing, technical decisions and removing blockers
- Represent the development team on communications about timing, risks, challenges and progress with stakeholders, PO’s, SM’S, QA and others
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across the technology stack to ensure vision and approach is adhered to
- Conduct code reviews for patterns and practices and approve all pull requests
- Advise scrum masters in understanding blockers and provide guidance in removing impediments for the rest of the team
- Understand the needs of the development team and help foster an environment where delivery can be streamlined (i.e. war rooms, lunch meetings, pair programming, etc.)

- Provide guidance on the roll-out plan and release approach to minimize risk and measure the stability of the release
- Collaborate with the build master to ensure tickets are correctly assigned to the release
- Document and coordinate migration activities for external parties such as Adobe, Akamai and IT resources
- Participate in post-migration activities alongside of the build master
- Provide technical insight during retros and drive action items to improve the team function
- Provide individual team member assessments on performance on technical, cultural and interpersonal skills

Job Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:
-6+ years of experience leading fast-paced, agile development teams in a senior role
-Proven track record of senior-level engineering engagements with both onsite and offsite development teams
-Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to break complex technical problems down to smaller parts for delegation
-Recent hands-on development experience coding in one or more languages (preferably JavaScript or Java 8)
-Significant experience building complex applications with many external integration points
-Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns across entire application stacks from the browser to services level
-Proven ability to motivate, mentor and delegate tasks to development team members and provide technical assistance when needed
-Strong sense of urgency and ownership of technical solutions to drive development through completion
