Position Summary / Job Purpose:

This position advances the goals of the Destination Development External Affairs and Communications function to build and manage a strong reputation for Royal Caribbean within key destinations around the world (Asia Pacific, Bahamas, Caribbean, US markets, Europe). The role is responsible for driving and managing all aspects of communications within a destination and includes destination analysis, identifying opportunities, and developing and implementing community engagement programs through public affairs initiatives, partnerships, community outreach, corporate responsibility and media relations. Work includes building relationships with key influencers, generating overall messaging and content, coordinating special events (groundbreaking ceremonies, signing ceremonies, public meetings, and press conferences) and monitoring community sentiment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Become the destination expert for RCL gathering insights to understand public opinion, community sentiment and local sensitivities to effectively build advocacy within the destination.

Develop and oversee innovative campaign strategies that integrate public affairs, corporate responsibility, partnerships and community events.

 Act as the key communications point of contact and trusted advisor for determined destination/s collaborating and working closely with cross-functional partners in government relations, corporate responsibility, corporate communications, commercial development, product development, hotel operations, legal, and marketing to drive community engagement programs.

 Drive proactive, positive and consistent messaging and narrative development to protect the reputation of the company.

 Develop communications and marketing content to ensure a consistent voice and effective storytelling, including market specific content, media pitches, press releases, Q&As, fact sheets, timelines and presentations, to further elevate the business priorities and build corporate reputation.

 Partner with other communications teams to create content and storytelling to support global earned and owned media including social media.

 Forge and sustain media relationships, generate media angles and opportunities and pursue successful media coverage for assigned portfolio of projects.

 Oversee day-to-day media relations, manage media interviews and contribute to global media lists to support expanding RCL Destination profile globally and visibility around the assigned destination.

 Respond to a diverse range of communications responsibilities in a timely and comprehensive manner and implement proactive and reactive plans to contribute to the successful positioning of company and business in a fast-moving environment.

 Plan and execute special events and executive site visits.

 Represent RCL at both internal and external events to strengthen relationships, support key initiatives, and maximize corporate visibility.

 Identify and manage external resources as needed.

Job Requirements

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

Bachelors degree with minimum 7 years of relevant experience - preferably with some experience in PR agency, public relations, public affairs, government relations, corporate communications or marketing communications.

 Communications experience in the cruise, travel or hospitality industry preferred.

 A creative and strategic thinker with exceptional presentation skills.

 A strong written and verbal communicator that can tailor messages to the right audiences.

Project Management experience.

 Experience managing multiple complex projects and programs and influencing others within organizations of scale

 A strong relationship builder with the ability to work closely with a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, dispositions, and executive levels.

 Decisive with the ability to manage competing priorities and juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Professionalism and leadership skills are essential.
