Job Description

Position Summary

Proactively manages, plans, coordinates and drives ship technical projects so they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget, and meet all safety and brand guidelines. Liaises operating department representatives intimately involved in the Revitalization of a ship:  Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment and ship yards. Typical assignments would include major ship projects such as revitalizations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and Leads activities to ensure project progresses on schedule, accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses
  • Manage and leads at a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies.
  • Manages vendors, to whom technical work is outsourced to, ensuring they meet our time, budget, safety and brand guidelines. 
  • Follow-up on team members to meet project deadlines and provide input on team member activities for schedule review process.
  • Confers with matrixed constituent department representatives and vendors to outline milestones, establish work plans, responsibilities, scope and tracking routines. 
  • Communicate project plan status on a regular basis to project team and project stakeholders. Establishing goals and analyzing project work process.
  • Tracks timing, budget, cost control and reporting.
  • Utilizes project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope; manages customer expectations and maintains focus.

  • Leads and manages a dedicated team of high level project engineers and naval architects during the project delivery phase of assigned project.

  • Responsible for budget of related engineer activities and engineer persons for assigned project.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university with a concentration in engineering, naval architecture or related field. 
  • Institute of Marine Engineers/Naval Architects or similar background.
  • 9+ years of experience supporting technical projects, shipbuilding or ship revitalizations

Knowledge and Skills

  • Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, must communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. Visual requirement include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Minimum of 2 dry docks per year with additional ship checks required.
  • Travel Requirement: 30-35%
